Meet Our Property Surveying Team in Andover

Teddy Marshall BSc (Hons) AssocRICS ACIAT MCIOB MRPSA - CEO & Surveyor

Teddy is the founder of Marshall James Associates Ltd and an AssocRICS Associate Building Surveyor with a broad professional background spanning surveying, design and construction delivery. He specialises in RICS Level 3 Building Surveys, providing clear, evidence-based advice to buyers and homeowners who want to properly understand the condition of a property before making important decisions.

Teddy holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying (2:1) and is a full member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA), reflecting his focus on high-quality residential inspection and reporting.

His surveys are written in plain English and concentrate on explaining not just what has been found, but why it matters, what the implications may be, and how condition can affect future costs and decision-making.

In addition to surveying, Teddy is an Associate Architectural Technologist, which supports the practice’s planning and Building Regulations services. This allows him to carry projects through from measured survey and planning drawings to technical construction detailing for Building Control approval.

Teddy is also a Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB), bringing practical construction knowledge to his project management and contract administration work. Acting as an independent professional between client and contractor, he focuses on compliance, quality control and controlled payment processes that reduce risk and promote right-first-time construction.

Across all services, Teddy’s professional ethos is consistent: provide clear information, avoid unnecessary alarm, and help clients make informed, confident decisions. Marshall James Associates Ltd is proudly independent, focusing on quality, clarity and proper process rather than volume work.

Alison Marshall BSc (Hons) Site Surveyor & Office Manager

As a Site Surveyor, Alison brings a keen eye for detail and a practical approach to property inspections. From identifying structural defects to capturing accurate site data, her work ensures every survey is thorough and reliable.

In her role as Office Manager, Alison oversees the coordination of client bookings, report preparation, and day-to-day operations. She ensures our team meets deadlines, keeps communication clear, and maintains the high standards our clients expect.

Alison is often the first point of contact for our clients — guiding them through the survey process with professionalism and care.

With her dual expertise, Alison is both a trusted surveyor on site and the organisational backbone of the office. At Marshall James Associates, she represents the blend of technical skill and client-focused service that defines everything we do

Sonny Marshall - Trainee Surveyor

Sonny is the oldest son of Teddy and wants to follow in his father's footsteps and become a competent building surveyor.

Frankie Marshall - Trainee Architectural Technician

Frankie is the oldest daughter of Teddy and wants to draw better than her father! Or be a singer or a hairdresser, she is pondering the path.

Teddy Marshall Jr. - Trainee Construction Manager

Teddy Jr. is the shortest member of the Marshall tribe, still only wee — but already bold and full of character. Growing up surrounded by survey talk, site visits, and drawings at the kitchen table, he’s had a head start in seeing how buildings come together.

If one day he chooses to join MJA, Teddy Jr. has all the makings of a confident project manager: fearless, curious, and naturally ready to take the lead. For now, though, he’s enjoying childhood — and we’re proud to imagine a future where he may carry the MJA story forward.
